Merlin's Magic Wand, 7th July 2010
On Friday 2nd July, as Murray was battling in vain against Nadal and The Netherlands were overcoming Brazil, another sporting contest for the ages was taking place. In the fantastic surroundings of Weybridge Cricket Ground, bathed in glorious sunshine, the Merlin’s Magic Wand Cricket Cup was launched. Organised by Mike Vallis, the tournament consisted of 6 teams of 6 players each from across the group and associates. Chessington World of Adventures defeated Thorpe Park in a free scoring final match to lay claim to the trophy; but the day wasn’t about who won or lost (fortunately for some…)
The day was ultimately about raising money for Merlin’s Magic Wand, and with a brilliant total of over £2,000 the day can be considered a great success on all levels. Merlin’s Magic Wand would like to thank Mike Vallis, Weybridge Cricket Club and everyone who was involved in the day for a great contribution.
